Can you submeter individual condo units?
Yes. Condominiums are one of the property types NES regularly submeters. We install a meter on each unit's utility line, collect reads wirelessly every day, and bill each unit for exactly what it uses. Water is the most common utility to meter in condos, though gas and electricity can be metered too. For condos, the association or board usually drives the decision, since metering shifts utility cost off the shared budget and onto the units that actually consume it. That tends to be fairer than splitting a master bill evenly, and it usually cuts overall water use by 15 to 30 percent. Where individual metering is not practical, ratio or formula-based billing is an option.
