Can NES submeter a duplex?
Not at this time. NES does not submeter duplexes, triplexes, or quadplexes. We have a large team built to serve big multifamily properties, so we only take on properties with 80 or more units. If you own a duplex, the basic idea of submetering still works the same way it does at a large property. You install a meter for each unit, then bill each resident for the water, gas, or electricity they actually use. That shifts the cost to the people using it and usually lowers overall use. For a two-unit property, you would want a local submetering provider or plumber who handles smaller jobs. If you own or manage a larger multifamily property with 80 or more units, NES can help with metering equipment, daily wireless reads, billing, and collection across more than 43 states.
Why NES does not serve duplexes
NES is structured for scale. Our compliance, installation, billing, and support teams are built to run large multifamily programs efficiently, so we focus on properties with 80 or more units. A duplex, triplex, or quadplex falls below that line, so it is not something we take on right now.
