What is submetering billing?
Submetering billing is the process of invoicing residents for the utility they used over a set period, usually each month. After a meter records a unit's water, gas, or electric use, that reading turns into a bill the resident pays. NES handles the full cycle as a submetering billing company: it installs the meters, reads them, produces the monthly bills, and provides phone and email support for both residents and property managers. The total billed across all units never exceeds the property's master meter cost, so residents only pay their real share. Billing is regulated differently in each state and county, and NES tracks those rules daily for the communities it serves. NES serves properties with 80 or more units across more than 43 states, with an in-house bilingual support team.
What happens each billing cycle
Meters report usage wirelessly to NES every day. At the end of the period, NES converts each unit's reading into a bill, applies the correct local rules, and sends it to the resident. Residents pay through an online portal, and managers can see the activity on their side.
